EAST PRAIRIE -- The East Prairie Eagles baseball team came into Friday afternoon's game with Caruthersville as a team that sometimes struggles at the plate. Friday was not one of those days.

East Prairie scored early and often against the Tigers winning 15-7, improving their record to 13-4 on the season.

"(Hitting) has been our weakpoint all year long but today we exploded," said East Prairie coach Jason Aycock. "Hitting is contagious and today the kids believed."

Leading the way at the plate was Preston Shoemaker who finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs while Danny Bryant ended 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.

Ben Walters, Jacob Poore, Hunter Jones and Josh Boyer each collected one hit with Jones compiling three RBIs and Poore two.

On the hill, sophomore Ryan Adams got the win, pitching a complete game, giving up only two runs while walking four and striking out four.

"All year long Ryan has only been able to go five innings," Aycock said. "Today I challenged him and told him that we needed him to go seven innings. He stepped up and did that today and had a wonderful performance. He had to work out of a couple of difficult situations and I couldn't be more proud of him."

East Prairie will host Chaffee on Tuesday.

NEW MADRID -- New Madrid County Central broke Oran's nine-game win streak with an 8-2 victory on Friday.

NMCC's Jordan Kimball, the winning pitcher, hurled a four-hitter -- all singles -- with 13 strikeouts.

Matt Seyer led Oran (15-3) with two hits, while the Eagle defense yielded five unearned runs.

Oran hosts Bell City on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
