SIKESTON - Courtney Leigh Sorrells, 18, died Aug. 10, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born Aug. 4, 1986, in Houston, Texas, she was the daughter of Stan and Brenda Vaughan Sorrells of Sikeston. A 2004 graduate of Sikeston Senior High School where she was a member of the Red Peppers, she was enrolled for the fall semester at the University of Mississippi. She was also a member of the American Legion Junior Auxiliary and Girl Scouts.

Survivors in addition to her parents include: her maternal grandparents, Roscoe and Mary Frances Vaughan of Sikeston; paternal grandparents, Don and Bette Sorrells of Sikeston and Helen Sorrells of East Prairie; seven uncles and two aunts-in-law, Mike Vaughan and Buddy Vaughan of Sikeston, Lee Vaughan of York, Pa., Joe and Heather Vaughan of Fort Worth, Texas, Bill Sorrells and Bob and Betty Sorrells of East Prairie and Ken Sorrells of Wichita, Kan.; four aunts, Bonnie Miller, Barbara "Babs" Looney and Sheri Vaughan of Sikeston and Rhonda Vaughan of Franklin, Tenn.; and cousins, Joey Looney, LeAndra Vaughan, Matt Vaughan, Justin Vaughan, Tiffany Smith, Justice Rodgers and Nathaniel Vaughan of Sikeston, Jessica Looney, Angie Vaughan and Jamie Vaughan of Cape Girardeau, Aaron Vaughan of York, Pa., Mike Vaughan, Kelsey Vaughan and Hailey Vaughan of Fort Worth, Roscoe Vaughan II of Franklin, Tenn., and Jennifer Sorrells of East Prairie.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen R. Schneider, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.

Pallbearers will be: Matt Bain, Cooper Lape, Shane Stricker, Jason Deere, Clint Bohannon and Michael LaPlant.
