HARDIN, Ky. - John Waldron Sr., 72, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Feb. 28, 2003, at Murray Calloway County Medical Center in Murray.

Born March 2, 1930, in Pocahontas, Ark., son of the late Marvin and Tula Caldwell Waldron, he was the owner and operator of Waldron Roofing before retiring. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114 and Murray Lane Baptist Church of Sikeston.

On Nov. 19, 1950, he married Billie Jean Larker who preceded him in death on Nov. 4, 2002.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, John G. and Wanda Waldron Jr. of Boise, Idaho, and Garry A. and Karen Waldron of Greenback, Tenn.; one daughter, Linda S. Waldron of Almo; one sister, Marvalee Waldron of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Pam "PJ" Lowe and Brandy Kaminsky of Sikeston, Stephen Sloan of Morley, Mo., Mary Blankenship and Christina Waldron of Greenback, and John Waldron of Knoxville; and eight great-grandchildren, Kortney Cook, Paden Cook and Noah Lowe of Sikeston, Lauren Blankenship and Alex Blankenship of Maryville, and Stephen Sloan Jr., Christopher Sloan and Luke Sloan of Morley.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Brett Miles, pastor of North Side Baptist Church of Almo, Ky., will officiate.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be: Charles Shultz, Tony Stricklin, Doyle Moore, Mike Pearson, Jimmy Glover and Jeff Sanders.
