Bobby Hughes

CHARLESTON - Bobby Lynn Hughes, 59, died at 2:30 a.m. Sept. 4, 2002, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born July 29, 1943, in Gideon, son of Mary Louise Powers Taylor of Gideon and the late William Herschel Hughes, he lived in Charleston most of his life and was a member of the Lynn Oak Baptist Church in Clarkton. He owned and operated the Bertrand Service Station and Convenience Store since 1990 and had also worked in construction.

On June 9, 1962, he married Shirley Berry who survives of the home.

Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: one son, Jeff Hughes of Charleston; one daughter, Tammy Hughes of Charleston; one brother, Wayne Hughes of D'lberville, Miss.; six sisters, Shirley Lance of Marshfield, Phyllis Hughes of Pass Christian, Miss., Peggy Timms of Kennett, Sandy Pickard of Gulfport, Miss., Judy Anderson of Poplar Bluff and Debbie Scott of Gideon; one stepbrother, Dale Taylor of Swartz Creek, Mich.; two stepsisters, Joann Tuggle of Portland, Ore., and Mary Lou Moylan of Clarkton; and six grandchildren.

Twin sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Charles Pipkins of Gideon will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Randy Tuggle, Brian Earnheart, Michael Stevens, Dean Stevens, Vernon Scott and Michael Hurtman.
