May Cates

DEXTER - May B. Cates, 98, died Nov. 26, 2002, at the Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Dexter.

Born May 8, 1904, in Benton, Ill., daughter of the late Ira and Bessie Crain Thompson, she had lived in the Bloomfield and Dexter areas all her life. She was a homemaker and member of the Assembly of God Church in Dexter.

On Jan. 17, 1925, in Bloomfield, she married John Luther Cates who preceded her in death on July 19, 1977.

Survivors include: two daughters, Dorothy Sayre and Novella McLard of Dexter; two sisters, Martha Cooper of Bloomfield and Berneice Dutton of Dexter; two grandchildren, Starlin McLard and Sam Sayre of Dexter; and four great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were a child in infancy, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. Friday until service time at noon at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Andrew Lovins of Dexter will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield.
