SIKESTON -- Sikeston's wrestling team experienced a bit of a letdown on Thursday night, losing 68-12 to area power Jackson.

The Bulldogs were pinned in eight of the 10 matches, winning just one match outright.

"It was a real tough night," said Sikeston coach Chris Hodgkiss. "Jackson has a great team, probably the best in our conference. But we didn't wrestle with the intensity tonight that we normally do."

Sikeston opened the match with two forfeits in the 103 and 112 classes, awarding easy wins to Jackson's Ben McMillian and Sean Gant.

At 119, Adam Miller pinned Jackson's Josh Schumacher in 3:56. In the 125 class, Shawn Cooper was pinned by Jackson's Brock Howard in 1:45. At 130, Cody Ryan was pinned by Jackson's Jordan Barnhart in 1:24. Kyle Weeks got a forfeit win in the 135 class. At 140, Cody Weeks was pinned by Jackson's Cody Rouse in 3:55. At 145, Tony Reynolds was pinned by Jackson's Kramer Rampley in 1:30.

Lance Berry lost a 20-5 decision to Jackson's Greg Ludwig in the 152 division. At 160, Ken Masegian was pinned in 56 seconds by Jackson's Blake Ulrich.

In the 171 class, Scotty Keenan lost a 6-2 decision to Jackson's Kamden Rampley. At 189, Malcolm Williams was pinned by Jackson's Matt Kahle in 1:23.

In the 215 class, Andy Croxford was pinned by Jackson's Dustin Flueggee in 5:38. At heavyweight, Joe Johnson was pinned in 5:20 by Jackson's Charles Doerge.

"This is something we want to forget about," said Hodgkiss. "I'm kicking their (hindquarters) in practice tomorrow. They had better do better Saturday at conference, that's for sure."

Sikeston's wrestling team will compete in the conference meet on Saturday at Jackson, starting at 10 a.m.
