Plafcan - Todt

SOLVAK, Ark. - Angela Sue Plafcan and Carl Edward Todt Jr. exchanged wedding vows on July 20, 2002, at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Slovak. The Rev. John A. Janesco performed the double-ring ceremony with Monsignor Richard C. Rolwing, pastor of The Cathedral of St. Mary in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Joshua Plafcan of Slovak, nephew of the bride, and Will Dobrovich of Stuttgart served as acolytes for the ceremony. Presiding as lector for the wedding Mass was Sylvester Todt of Oran, Mo., uncle of the bridegroom. Cletus and Hannah Todt of Cape Girardeau, Mo., carried the Eucharistic gifts for their nephew. Serving as Eucharistic ministers were Sister Dorothy Ann Plafcan of Little Rock, aunt of the bride, and Sister Patricia Jan Liter of Cleveland, Miss.

The church was decorated with greenery and white satin bows. A large arrangement of fresh flowers, gladiolus, carnations and fuschia adorned the main and side altars. A banner designed by Linda Uhiren and Katie Proctor was hung behind the main altar for the ceremony.

Music for the wedding ceremony was provided by organist Polly Franzen of Stuttgart and Angie Hynum of Brinkley. Selections included "In This Very Room," "The Gift," "How Can I Keep from Singing?" and "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman."

The parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. George J. Plafcan of Stuttgart and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Edward Todt Sr. of Sikeston, Mo.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a soft ivory chiffon gown by Eden of California. The gown featured an empire bodice, scoop neckline and short cap sleeves with an A-line chapel-length train. Created by Allan Kay, the fingertip illusion veil was complemented with seed pearls and the bride carried a bouquet of pink and yellow silk roses designed by Kathy Besser of Little Rock.

Hannah Plafcan attended her mother as maid of honor. She wore a sage green dress by Mori Lee which featured a scoop neckline, empire bodice and short cap sleeves. Embroidery accented the bodice of the gown. Serving as bridesmaids were Marie Plafcan of Longmont, Colo., sister of the bride and Susan Howard, sister of the bridegroom. Their yellow gowns were identical to the maid of honor and all carried nosegays of yellow and pink roses, also designed by Kathy Besser.

Lauren Plafcan of Slovak and Emma Plafcan of Conway, nieces of the bride, were flower girls. Their white cotton tea-length dresses featured sashes of pink and red roses and they wore white halos in their hair.

Tom Todt of Oklahoma City, Okla., attended his cousin as best man. Groomsmen were Tony Johnson of Vanduser, Mo., friend of the bridegroom, and Dennis Plafcan of Stuttgart, brother of the bride. They and the bridegroom wore black tuxedos by Perry Ellis.

Tyler Howard of Jackson, Mo., who served his uncle as ring bearer, carried a satin pillow designed by the bride's mother.

Ushers were Mark Howard of Jackson, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, and Matthew Plafcan of Austin, Texas, nephew of the bride.

Guests were greeted by Brooke Besser of Little Rock and Melissa Lisko of Arkansas. They attended the guest book and handed wedding programs to guests.

The reception room in the parish center was decorated with peace lilies, Boston ferns and fresh flowers. The bride and bridegroom's table held a three-tiered wedding cake decorated with fresh flowers and a ceramic bride and groom at the top. Cake and punch were served by Donna Bennett of Missouri City, Texas, Joanna Greasel of Carmel, Ind., Catherine Hatfield and Sarah Hatfield of Slovak. Hors d'oeuvres and champagne were also served.

Following a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., and Myrtle Beach, S.C., Mr. and Mrs. Todt are making their home in Sikeston. The bridegroom is engaged in farming and the bride is employed at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Gerald and Jonelle Plafcan of Conway hosted an engagement party for the couple in their home on March 3.

A bridal shower was held at Saints Cyril and Methodius Parish Center on May 26. The future bride, her mother and the mothers of the bridegroom were presented with corsages of white roses from the hostesses and gifts were displayed on tables decorated with white table cloths. A silk arrangement of yellow roses and blue and white hydrangeas for the refreshment table was presented to the bride by the hostesses.

On July 10, co-workers of the bride at Arkansas Allergy and Asthma Clinic, hosted a bridal shower.

Parents of the bridegroom hosted a wedding reception Aug. 18 in the Guardian Angel School gym in Oran.
