Your View 12/20: Event was success

Friday, December 20, 2002

Once again the Sikeston Depot has had another successful Christmas Home tour. We would like to thank the following people:

Those who graciously opened their homes to be toured, Janet and Terry Dame, Marlene and Galen Kruger, Elizabeth and Troy Wilson and Diane and Dan Jennings.

All the Depot volunteers who sold tickets, marked tickets at the homes, worked as in-home volunteers, made cookies and served at the reception.

A special thank you to Anita Sharp for organizing the volunteers, Larry Braden for making the maps of homes, Tonia Pennington for writing the Standard Democrat article about us, Tim Jaynes for the wonderful pictures of our event and the Red Pepper organization for the punch and cookies. We also want to thank David Bizzell for cleaning the snow off the parking lot and making the area safe for our visitors.

A final thank you to the Park View Florist, Helen's Florist and the Flower Patch Florist for helping to sponsor the event.

We experienced a 40 percent increase in attendance over last year, which would not have been possible without the wonderful support of Sikeston and the surrounding communities. Thank you.

If you would like to open your home for our tour in 2003, please call me at 471-9320 as we have one opening left.

Please do not forget about the Sikeston Depot when you are preparing to make your year-end contributions. We are able to provide all our historical and cultural events because of the funding we receive from our communities. Just bring your check by the Depot or mail it to P.O. Box 182, Sikeston, Mo. 63801.

Mary Christmas and a peaceful and happy New Year!

LaDona DeKriek, president Sikeston Depot
