Call 471-6636

This is for the lady who is running for the school board in East Prairie. I take my hat off to you because you have made a landmark. What is the population of East Prairie and is the school 1A, 2A or 3A? I hear that East Prairie is a good place to live. So I would like to know the name of the lady who is running for the school board because I would like to congratulate you and tell you it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game.

According to the 2000 Census, East Prairie has a population of 3,227. The school is classified as a 2A school. The school board candidate we believe the caller is referring to is named Bridgett Williams.

I saw the article that ran on Valentine's Day in the Standard Democrat which said "scientists are still trying to figure out what's so great about sex." I recommend they give it a try.

I want to apologize to someone I called at work today. You know who you are and I hope you read this. I said some awful things to you because I believed you called me at work and yelled at me over having sex with your husband. Now I know it wasn't you. A very mean person used your name and even told me where you work. When I got hung up on, I just wanted to have my say, so I did. But I know you're not the same one who called. Sorry.

When will people ever get it straight and get with the groove here? I just came from a store in Sikeston. I had to buy about $10 worth of stuff but the lady in front of me had almost $398 worth of stuff in the express lane. Why can't people read the signs? Why doesn't the store do anything about it?

We contacted the manager of the store you're calling about. Although the express lanes are set up as a courtesy to the customers, the customers have the right to choose which lane they want to go to.

I can't believe our supposed legislative leaders are going to try to push this new stadium down our throats. Folks, it's only a game. If we want to spend tax money, let's meet the needs of our senior citizens and children first. If they succeed, I can only hope that every private business owner are considered with the same benefits and that the names of all legislators who vote for it are published in the paper.

I am tired of hearing about so many bleeding hearts for the Afghanistans detained in Cuba. When they apologize to us for the over 3,000 Americans that they killed, then we can be more lenient to them. Otherwise, hanging or a firing squad is too good for them. They should be beaten until they can't walk for all the stuff they did. People think we should apologize and treat them humanely? They didn't treat the 3,000 people they killed humanely.

Someone called in complaining about a news article and picture for the Girl Scouts selling cookies. I would much rather see news about kids doing something good and productive instead of having their names in the paper because of breaking the law or being victims of violence or racism. It's just horrible that people complain about something good that happens.

I live on West Gladys Street and saw a little kid in the 300 block almost get killed. A guy driving a little red station wagon almost hit him; so did a lady driving a van. Where is the mom of these kids who are playing in the street? This needs to be looked into. She needs to be concerned more for her children's safety. Thank God for people who watch kids when they're in the street. I appreciate these drivers and the lady who ran out and got him.
