Gideon man killed in crash

CLARKTON -- A Gideon resident was killed in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday morning in New Madrid County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 10:25 a.m., four miles southeast of Clarkton, an accident occurred as the one-ton truck driven by Clyde D. Dempsey, 51, of Kennett and the pickup truck operated by Carl K. Berry, 37, of Gideon met at an unmarked intersection at New Madrid County Road 285/284. Berry was partially ejected from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by Dunklin County Coroner Jack Adkins. Berry's body was taken to Landess Funeral Home in Malden.

Dempsey and his passenger, Colter L. Kaster, 23, of Gideon received serious injuries and were air evacuated to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
