Call 4471-6636

I read in the paper about a family in Miner who doesn't keep their yard up like the rest of the neighborhood does. Have you ever heard that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones? Remember, what goes around, comes around. Instead of criticizing the neighbor, why don't you be a good neighbor and buy a fence to put up for them? If you want them to cut the weeds, get them a weed eater. It might take being a good neighbor to get a good neighbor.

I read where several people called in about a neighborhood in Miner. Have all you do-gooders ever offered to help this neighbor? Maybe they don't have a weed eater or the funds or knowledge to run it. Maybe they don't have the money for a good fence. Maybe you should stop judging and take a long look in the mirror. It sounds like you, as a good, upstanding neighbor, has the problem. Get on with your life and let the neighbors get on with theirs. That is what is wrong with this world. Some people can't be happy unless they are causing trouble for someone else. If you were a good neighbor, you wouldn't be calling SpeakOut complaining about everything at the drop of a hat.

I agree with the person who called in about the shopping carts on the parking lot at Wal-Mart. Every time I go out there I find shopping carts all over the lot. It makes me so mad to come out and find one up against my car. I know Wal-Mart could afford to pay someone a decent salary to keep the carts off the lot. I'm sure the boys break their backs when they do out to get them. If they paid better, maybe they could get someone to do that job.

I keep a rug on the kitchen floor next to my sink. Every morning we see what people call a "slug" on it. We have never had this problem before. Can someone tell me how to get rid of them? We don't know what's causing this.

A slug is a snail without an external shell. We found several remedies available on the Internet. The easiest way to find the information you are looking for is to go to a search engine and type in "slug snail." (The Internet offers a lot of information and this is the easiest way to get a list.) Ferramol is one item we found to remedy the problem. "This product is a unique blend of slug and snail bait additives with an iron phosphate active ingredient. The iron phosphate is used as an ingredient in fertilizers and occurs in soil. The bait is attractive to snails and slugs and lures them from their hiding places and plants. Ingestion even in small amounts will cause them to cease feeding. This physiological effect of the bait gives immediate protection to the plants. After eating the bait, the slugs and snails become less mobile and begin to die within three to six days." You might also try calling a local exterminator.

I would like to SpeakOut about the immigration story about the woman from Australia that was in your paper recently. I am from North Dakota and we people in North Dakota consider the immigration officials "America's Gestapo." They are always harassing the people that live close to the border. I'm sorry this has come into your country. If anyone thinks I'm a kook, remember the incident in Miami where the little Cuban boy was seized and sent back to Cuba. There's a big picture in the paper showing one of the immigration people with a semi-automatic rifle pointed at the boy's face.

Someone called in about a child playing with a puppy. What are you supposed to do it, sit it in a corner and wait for it to grow up? Take it to a kennel or send it to a dog pound? Puppies like to growl and they like to play. That doesn't mean it's going to grow up to be mean. You really need to get a life and get off the people's back. I'll bet you had a dog that had bitten other people before. So maybe you should clean under your own doorstep before you try to clean someone else's.
