BLOOMFIELD -- John Yount, 83, died Nov. 29, 2006, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.

Born July 31, 1923, in Ironton, son of the late Marcus Daniel and Fairymae McNabb Yount, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield, the Dexter Elks Lodge and Bloomfield American Legion. He was a farm management specialist for the University of Missouri Extension Services for 35 years, retiring in 1984.

On June 15, 1948, at Ardmore, Okla., he married Betty Dayton who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Gary Dayton Yount of Horn Lake, Miss., and Mark Lee Yount of Springfield; one daughter, Beth Pulley of Dexter; one brother, Robert L. Yount of Ironton; one sister, Eileen Stubblefield of Germantown, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Kevin Eskew will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
