MARSTON - Eddie Long Sr., 76, died Dec. 13, 2003, at his home.

Born May 7, 1927, in Wolf Island, son of the late Artie and Ollie Cassel Long, he was a member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Marston. Ordained as a deacon in September 1957, he had served as chairman of the deacon board, Sunday school and BTU teacher for many years and was also a Sunday school superintendent and church secretary.

On Feb. 12, 1949, he married Betty Bee Warr who preceded him in death.

Survivors include: one daughter, Kay Long of St. Louis; 10 sons and eight daughters-in-law, the Rev. Donald and Sammie Long of Sweeney, Texas, Ezzard and Mary Long of East St. Louis, Ill., the Rev. James and Barbara Long, Adron and Virga Long and Artie Long of St. Louis, Eddie and Connie Long Jr., Warren Long and Booker and Stephanie Long of Marston, Lawrence and Allysia Long of New Madrid and Reginald and Shawn Long of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Mon Willer McKinney of Marston; 36 grandchildren, 31 three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, many of whom he helped raise.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond Long, Arbie Long, Cornell Long and Johnnie Long; one sister, Quiller Mae Sims; two grandsons, Markale Long and Lance Long; and one great-grandson, Pryce Combs.

Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. Saturday until service time at 1 p.m. Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Donald Long will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Mason Cemetery at Point Pleasant.

Pallbearers will be: Charles Timms, Kendrick McKinney, Johnnie Long Jr., Timothy Long, Verlon Timms and Oddie Long Jr.
