PORTAGEVILLE - Fay Barnes Whittle, 91, died July 16, 2003, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born Nov. 22, 1911, in Portageville, daughter of the late John N. and Lucille Fisher Barnes, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Wesleyan and United Methodist Women in Portageville.

On July 2, 1944, she married Roy Whittle who preceded her in death.

Survivors include: three stepdaughters Barbara Crawford of Maryville, Tenn., and Mary Joyce Thompson and Glenda Montgomery of Germantown, Tenn.; one nephew, James Henry Workman Jr. of Pensacola, Fla., one great-nephew, James H. "Hank" Workman III of Maryville; and eight stepgrandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Trudy Cecil "Sannie" Workman and Myrtle Barnes.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. Sunday until service time at 2:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Portageville. The Rev. Richard Combs and the Rev. Sharon Howard will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Jake Rone, Al Wrather, Gary Raney, Eric Bond, Hank Workman and Travis Shumate.
