CARUTHERSVILLE - Charges are expected to be filed in connection with the disappearance of a Southeast Missouri man.

Early Wednesday morning, Henry Slay, 26, of Portageville was reported missing southeast of Caruthersville along the Mississippi River. Initially it was reported Slay was attempting to return to his house when his boat overturned in the water and he disappeared. One individual reportedly was with Slay at the time but managed to reach safety.

As a result of the investigation by the Missouri State Water Patrol, Bootheel Drug Task Force and the Pemiscot County Sheriff Department, three persons were questioned. Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney Mike Hazel is expected to file charges in the case later today, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.

A search was initiated by the Pemiscot County Rescue Squad but as of early Thursday Slay's body had not been recovered. Authorities added they will continue in their efforts to locate the missing man.
