SIKESTON - Gladys Allene Francis, 87, died at 11:01 p.m. March 24, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Jan. 28, 1918, in McCracken County, Ky., daughter of the late Charles Boyd and Laddie Bell Elrod Skinner, she had lived in Mississippi county most of her life and was of the Baptist belief.

Oct. 25, 1936, she married John Jefferson Francis who preceded her in death on June 16, 1989.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Dennis Francis; four brothers, James Dorris Skinner, Elva Skinner, Hubert Skinner and Alfred Skinner; two sisters, Floye Terrell and Dessie Baker; and one grandson, Jimmy Allen Francis.

Survivors include: two sons, Bill Francis of Charleston and Jerald Francis of Scott City; one daughter, Linda Sullivan of Wickliffe, Ky.; and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. Saturday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston until the time for services at 1 p.m. The Rev. Larry Potts, pastor of Cairo Baptist Church in Cairo, Ill., will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
