SIKESTON - Tech. Sgt. Stanley F. Wallace, 36, of Sikeston is on his way home, one of 486 Americans who were set free from the Japanese prison camp in Luzon, Philippine Islands, last Tuesday.

SIKESTON - The Lions Club had as their speaker Wednesday noon Capt. Calvin Owen, commander of the second battalion motor office of the 140th Infantry. In civilian life he is associated with the right-of-way department of the Highway Department Division 10 in Sikeston.

LILBOURN - Outscored by New Madrid County Central in the second, third and fourth quarters, Kelly used a 16-6 first quarter to edge New Madrid County Central 54-52 Saturday.

SIKESTON - Cub Scouts of Pack 43, sponsored by the Airport School Parent Teachers Association, gave a formal flag ceremony at the annual Blue and Gold Dinner.

EAST PRAIRIE - East Prairie Mayor Lonnie Thurmond recently signed a proclamation declaring February American History Month in East Prairie. Witnessing the signing was Patrice Ponder, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The proclamation urges citizens to recognize the importance of American history in their lives.

SIKESTON - The Ladies Auxiliary No. 3319 of the Sikeston Fraternal Order of Eagles presented a $500.25 donation to Bill Arnold of Sikeston to help finance his kidney transplant. Present for this event were: Brenda Elliot, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Arnold, Artenis Segraves, Linda Davis, Nina McWilliams, and Brenda Hammons.
