Ernest Ray Weems

EAST PRAIRIE - Ernest Ray (Bo} Weems, 77 years and seven months, died at 2:30 a.m. May, 31, 2004, at his home in East Prairie.

Born Oct. 16, 1926, in Ridgely, Tenn., to the late James Irl and Beulah Odell Stinnett Weems, he resided in Mississippi County for the past 32 years. Ernest worked for Ralston Purina and retired from the Wilbert Vault Company in St. Louis. After moving to East Prairie, he worked as a farmer and his favorite past time was fishing. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church in East Prairie.

On Nov. 23, 1946, he married Mildred Marie Parden, his loving wife of 57 years and six months, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene (Gene) Weems of East Prairie and Karen Weems of Cuba, Mo., Richard and Kelly Weems of Yorktown, Ind., and Darrell and Katie Weems of Sikeston; five daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara (Kathy) and Daniel Dotson of Cuba, Mo., Shelia Sharp and Smitzer of New Castle, Penn., Ruth Ann and Almous Brannum of Muncie, Ind., Raye Lynn and Jim Poley of Paducah, Ky., and Denise and Chuck Little of East Prairie; three sisters, Bonnie Carlyle and Faye McGill of East Prairie and Golden Day of Addison, Ala.; one brother, Bobby Weems of East Prairie; and 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews and many friends survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Full Gospel Church in East Prairie with Mike Johnson and Billy Freeman officiating.

Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
