SIKESTON - Surrounded by her family, Ethel Laverne Carmack, 82, of Sikeston peacefully departed this earth at 11:35 p.m. April 8, 2004, at her home near Morehouse.

Born March 26, 1922, in Holland, Mo., daughter of the late Sidney and Anna Burton Finney, she was a cook for Head Start for 26 years, a homemaker and a loving mother. She was of the Baptist belief.

On Aug. 5, 1939, in Essex, she married Allen "Buck" Carmack who preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1998.

She leaves behind two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles "Sonnie" and Lois Carmack of Essex and Dennis and Terry Carmack of Sikeston; four daughters and sons-in-law, Vernice and Joe King of Sikeston, Sandra and David Nations of St. Charles, Ill., and Kathy and Ernie Williams and Kim and Roger Malloy of Essex. Also surviving are three sisters, Mildred Brown of Brawley, Calif., Lillian Causey of Windfall, Ind., and Wanda Cochran of Sikeston; one brother, Richard Finney of Windfall; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Finney of Westville, Ind., and Zella Carmack of Advance; 11 grandchildren, Donna King, Ronnie Carmack, Rhonda Turley, Chuck Carmack, Randy Nations, David Carmack, Sam Carmack, Tammy Miller, Tina Worley, Ernie Williams Jr. and Allen Malloy; and 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death were one son, Allen Carmack, four brothers, one sister and one grandson, Terry King.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Mike Brown, pastor of Harvest Assembly of Essex, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ronnie Carmack, Chuck Carmack, Randy Nations, David Carmack, Sam Carmack, Allen Malloy and Ernie Williams Jr.
