Maupin wins second straight Super Pro race at Drag Strip

SIKESTON

Cape Girardeau native Jack Maupin the Super Pro Class at the Sikeston Drag Strip Saturday night for the second consecutive week.

He ran 6.16 on a 6.17 dial at 112 m.p.h. His reaction time was .507. Runner up Ron Simmons, also of Cape Girardeau, ran a 7.40 on a 6.25 dial at 61 m.p.h., but red lit to give Maupin the automatic win.

PRO CLASS

Malden's Mike Dean posted his first Pro Class win of the season by beating last year's points champion Mike Ritchie. Dean ran 6.71 on a 6.70 dial at 97 m.p.h. His reaction time was .598. Ritchie ran 6.39 on a 6.33 dial at 107 m.p.h. His reaction time was .596.

E.T. CLASS

Dexter's John Daniels won the E.T. Class with an 8.32 dial. He ran 8.32 at 82 m.p.h. with a reaction time of .568. Runner up Tre Hammontree, of East Prairie, ran 7.76 on a 7.80 dial at 87 m.p.h. His reaction time was .550.

DIXIE DOOR SLAMMERS

Jimmy Evans, of Cummings, Ga., took first place in the Dixie Door Slammers feature. He ran 5.13 on a 5.10 dial at 138 m.p.h. Bryan Lambert of Olive Branch took second.
