SIKESTON -- P.J. Schlosser, 87, died at 1:10 p.m. Oct. 4, 2002, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.

Born Sept. 27, 1915, at Kelso, son of the late John and Mary Burger Schlosser, he owned and operated P.J.'s Auto and Home Supply Co. in Sikeston from 1937 until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3151 in Sikeston, where he was the first grand knight. A fourth degree knight, he served as deputy grand knight for the district council and as state treasurer of the Missouri Knights of Columbus Council. He was a member of the Scott County Community Sheltered Workshop Board for a number of years and served as vice-president and president of the Workshop Board of Directors. A scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts, he also served on the Eagle Scout Advisory Board and the financial board of First National Bank in Sikeston, and he was a member of the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce.

On March 10, 1936, in Murphysboro, Ill., he married Geraldine Brewer who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: four daughters and sons-in-law, Irma and James Lee of Huntley, Ill., Sue and Charles Tippitt of Townsend, Tenn., Brenda and Arthur Schmidt of Olive Branch, Miss., and Jane and Ralph Kloppenberg of Webster Groves; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Schlosser of Sikeston; and 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

One son, Joe Schlosser, three brothers, three sisters and one great-granddaughter preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, with a prayer service scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Church, with the Rev. Stephen Schneider, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
