SIKESTON - Mrs. W.B. Malone Jr. entertained children and their mothers Monday afternoon at the home of her mother-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Malone, in observance of the first birthday anniversary of her son, Billy Malone III.

BENTON - Oran's Eagles proved last night that the old-fashioned game of ball control is still deadly in this day of run-and-shoot teams. The Eagles had possession of the ball most of the game and ran up a careful score of 55-46 over Kelly Hawks here last night.

SIKESTON - Room Mates Waterbeds Inc. of Cape Girardeau announced plans to open their fourth area waterbed store. The new shop will be located at 138 E. Front St. Planned opening date is Nov. 14.

SIKESTON - If you're one of the city's residents who rakes their leaves into the street you might have yourself to blame the next time your street floods. Doug Friend, director of Public Works and other officials are offering an alternative for disposal of the fall foliage once it hits the ground. To help residents with their leaves the city officials suggest the city compost site. "The main point we want to make is that if people will bag their leaves for the compost site, we will take all the bags they can bring," he said. The city has no leaf collection program but that may change next year. Friend has examined the leaf collection program of nearby communities and ha been pricing equipment to do the job.


CHARLESTON - As warned in July, the business licenses for the Blue Room Pool Parlor, also known as the Harris Game Room, 604 W. Marshall St., has been revoked by the Charleston City Council.
