Speakout 1/28

Friday, January 28, 2005

When people have to move in together and pool their income in order to pay their utilities and keep warm there is something wrong. Our new governor should check out the Public Service Commission. They do nothing but sit on their can and pass every utility rate hike that comes across the desk.

I would like to Speakout, first and foremost thanks to the Standard Democrat's sports department for keeping up your coverage on our local sports in the Bootheel. Thank you again on that. Once again I am responding to the loser that doesn't know that a basketball is round. Get a life. We at Portageville don't think we need to win them all. We slipped down a couple of spots in the state-ranking but don't be so jealous. While we are state-bound your team evidently will be at home watching us on television. And also I'm sure the Standard Democrat will be covering us also since they are beefing up their sports department and doing a great job. Just keep reading the Standard Democrat sports section, every day buddy and you will learn something. Maybe before the season's out you will know that a basketball is round and that Portageville is for real.

I'm calling about the name and address you had in the newspaper regarding the school supplies to Iraq. Those fellows can not receive mail after Jan. 15 due to them coming home. There might be some other contacts you could have but those fellows won't be getting any more mail.

I'm so bummed out because Johnny Carson is gone. I guess I kind of hoped he would never die. So long, Johnny.
