SIKESTON - Seven directors of the Missouri Delta Community Hospital Association were elected for terms of three years at the annual meeting of the association held last night. Those elected were: Lee Bowman, Joseph L. Matthews, P.B. Bartmess, John D. Hux, C.C. Scott of Sikeston, Harry Campell of Lilbourn and Harris D. Rodgers of Benton.
SIKESTON - Sikeston firemen fought a blaze that resulted in extensive damage to equipment at the Sikeston Laundry and Dry Cleaners at 517 E. Malone Saturday night.
SIKESTON - An outstanding performance by Fred "Hustling" Townes paved the way for Sikeston's 71-66 win over Richland Saturday night at the Armory, the second win in two nights over highly rated teams.
NEW MADRID - A request to place a boundary issue involving the New Madrid County R-1 School District and the Portageville School District on the ballot was denied Wednesday by the Cape Girardeau Circuit Court.
NEW MADRID - Jake Rone, sheriff of New Madrid County, has filed for reelection to that office in the Aug. 2 election.
NEW MADRID - At the end of what judges described as "thirteen very long hours" Gary D. Hill of rural Gideon was elected sheriff to fill a two-year unexpired term. Hill, a Democrat, defeated independent candidate Glen R. Creasy by an unofficial total of 1,061 to 132.
ESSEX - The Richland Rebels came out to play Tuesday night as they beat the Oran Eagles 88-54. The Rebels had four players in double figures.
