Spats Menz

SCOTT CITY - Silverius Francis "Spats" Menz, 86, died at 2:35 p.m. Jan. 24, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born June 20, 1915, in Kelso, son of the late Nickolas and Mary Mirgeaux Menz, he was a self-employed bricklayer and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Scott City VFW Post 6407. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

On April 24, 1944, in Scott City, he married Grace Miller who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Charles Menz and William Menz of Scott City; three sisters, Margie Littleton and Lucille Swann of Cape Girardeau and Billie Bohannon of Sikeston; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robbie Menz on Nov. 27, 1978; and by three brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. David Coon will officiate.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery at Scott City.
