Esther Hampton

PARIS, Texas - Esther Hampton, 98, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died at 6:03 p.m. Nov. 17, 2001, at Christus-St. Joseph's Hospital in Paris.

Born June 20, 1903, in Arkansas, she had worked at Little Man Lamberts Cafe in Sikeston as a cook for 21 years. In 1966 she moved to DeKalb, Ill., and then to Paris where she lived until her death.

She married George Hampton who preceded her in death in 1961.

Survivors include: four sons, Wilburn D. Hampton Sr. of St. Louis, Mo., Alvin F. Hampton of DeKalb, William T. Hampton of Flora, Ill., and James Hampton of Ozark, Mo.; three daughters, Pauline Vivrett of Eureka, Mo., Inez Cossey of Hillsboro, Mo.; and Betty Hurst of Paris; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Huey Long of Pekin, Ill., officiating.

Burial will follow in the New Morley Cemetery in Morley, Mo.
