Chamber banquet was great success

Sunday, April 4, 2004

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our 2004 Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce winners.

Educator of the Year was a tie between Bonny Harris and Ed Cowan; SACC Volunteer of the Year went to Larry Braden and Law Enforcement Officer of the Year was given to Sgt. David Markham of the Missouri Highway Patrol. The Sikeston Jaycees Distinguished Service Award went to Jeff Miles, Civic Group of the Year was awarded to the Sikeston Jaycees, Small Business of the Year was presented to Susie's Bake Shoppe and Restaurant, Business of the Year went to Cott Beverages USA while the Citizen of the Year was awarded to Scott Matthews.

The Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to host this event every year and recognize the outstanding efforts of our area businesses and citizens. It was a special evening with over 365 people in attendance celebrating what is good about the Sikeston and Miner areas.

Again congratulations to our winners.

The Chamber has also been busy gathering donations for our Third Annual MAP Awareness Campaign. During kickoff week food items were given to students participating in the MAP test. I would like to thank the following businesses for their assistance in this program: Wal-Mart, Pepsi, Keebler, Little Debbie, Nabisco, Frito Lay, MikeRentals Inc., Sikeston Elks, First State Bank and Sikeston Depot.

Our third edition of the "Images of Sikeston" magazine has just arrived. It is a great publication showcasing the Sikeston and Miner areas. The Chamber office uses this magazine for relocation packets, economic development and tourism inquiries. It is free and can be picked up at the SACC offices.

I would also like to mention a new feature on our Website. we have just added video streaming to our www.sikeston.net Website. We will be adding footage throughout the next several weeks so check it out. We are very excited about this new feature that can be viewed by prospective visitors, businesses or residents.

For more information abut the Chamber or any of our activities contact us at 573-471-2498 or visit our Website at www.sikeston.net.
