We share, these days, a national tragedy. Thousands of innocent lives have been lost and military actions place service men and women at risk. As our fighting men and women respond, those of us in the civilian life owe them our full support and deep appreciation. They follow in the proud tradition of military service going back to the days of the minutemen.

As we support our fighting men and women, let us continue to remember those who paid the ultimate price for freedom in previous conflicts, as well as those who have served us with honor. In a high technology military, our soldiers develop high technology skills. These skills, along with attained leadership qualities, are readily transferable to the civilian workplace where high technology workers are in demand.

There are nearly 10,000 veterans registered as job seekers at Missouri WORKS! (www.missouriworks.com), the Internet site operated by the Missouri Division of Workforce Development.

With hundreds of skilled occupations in the military, chances are when businesses look for skilled workers, there are qualified veterans available with the required skills. To hire a veteran, contact your nearest Missouri Career Center or visit the Missouri WORKS! website. As we support those who now serve, let us also remember those who have served in the past.
