Several injured in accidents

POPLAR BLUFF - Area traffic accidents over the holiday weekend resulted in injuries to several drivers and passengers.

Two Dexter residents sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident early Thanksgiving Day. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred at 10:35 a.m. on Highway 25 at Highway 60, one mile north of Dexter, when an eastbound vehicle driven by Georgia Newcomer, 76, of Bloomfield failed to yield after stopping and struck a southbound vehicle driven by Shirley Jordan, 38, of Bell City.

Jordan and a passenger in the same vehicle, Mary Beckman, 35, of Bell City were taken to Missouri Southern Health Care in Dexter.

A Matthews man was also moderately injured in a one-vehicle accident on Thursday. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 11 a.m. on Route HH, five miles south of Matthews when a westbound vehicle driven by 42-year-old Samuel Polk ran off the roadway and overturned. He was taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Three Charleston residents were injured late Thursday evening when they were involved in an accident on Highway 62 in Charleston.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the accident at 11:10 p.m., when a northbound vehicle driven by Kanika Williams, 18, pulled into the path of an eastbound Charleston Department of Public Safety vehicle driven by 23-year-old Michael Kimbrell, causing Kimbrell's vehicle to strike Williams' vehicle in the left rear.

Williams and passengers in her car, Tyshanta Williams, 17, and Kameisha Campbell, 20, were all taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston for treatment of minor injuries.

A two-vehicle accident was reported Friday afternoon near Dexter. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 1:22 p.m. on U.S. 60 at Missouri Highway 25, one mile north of Dexter. Krystal G. Meador, 17, of Delta, failed to yield after stopping and struck a pickup truck driven by Jeffrey S. Haney, 36, of Bloomfield.

Meador sustained minor injuries and was taken to Missouri Southern Healthcare. No other injuries were reported.
