SIKESTON - An eight pound son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wedel Tuesday at Sikeston General Hospital. The child has been named Ray Wedel Jr.

SIKESTON - The young concert pianist, Stanley Rabin, who has been making such a splash in musical circles the past few seasons, will appear in this city on Nov. 19 at the Lee Hunter School Auditorium.

SIKESTON - The Missouri State Conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will hold its annual conference Nov. 27-28 at the Ramada Inn here.


SIKESTON - Scurrying this morning to get everything ready for display at the Kingsway Mall were many of the 65 exhibitors scheduled to show their arts and crafts this weekend.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Public Safety Director James W. Leist reported today that someone falsely claiming to be the Public Safety Director has been soliciting local citizens for donations. The Sikeston DPS has received information that persons in and around the Sikeston area are being asked to donate money for DPS Crime Prevention purposes. This solicitation is being done by telephone and the person calling is identifying him as the Sikeston Police Chief. Leist said no one from Sikeston DPS is calling people and asking for monetary donations. Whoever the person is, he stated, they are doing this without the knowledge or authority of DPS.


SIKESTON - Public Works director Doug Friend discussed the possibility of the city acquiring a new street sweeper at the City Council's meeting Wednesday morning.
