Event a success

On behalf of the Artrain USA staff, I would like to thank the Sikeston Depot Cultural Development Center for the opportunity to bring Artrain USA to Sikeston. The community response to the featured exhibition, "Artistry of Space" from the NASA Art Program was overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic.

We were able to let an amazing number of children and adults tour the train. The overall attendance for Artrain USA's four-day stop was 4,228. This is certainly an admirable number of people in attendance who support the arts.

The volunteers who served as guides, demonstrating artists and as help for our facility staff were all outstanding. We thank each volunteer for the time they spent reviewing the Artrain USA material before reporting to their shift as well as the time they spent onboard the train. We also give thanks to the community's artists who took time to come aboard our train and share with the public their talents. Additionally, we would like to thank those who came and helped out or facility staff in making sure the train was on schedule to open up and then to move. It was a privilege to work with such devoted members of your community.

Overall, I would have to say that this Artrain USA tour stops was a tremendous success. I would like to extend a special thank you to Ellen Brandom, as well as the others who were involved with organizing our visit to the area. It is no simple task to bring Artrain USA into a community because there are many details to arrange prior to our arrival. The community steering committee did a wonderful job to put it all together for your community. Thank you for making it all possible and for letting Artrain USA bring the "Artistry of Space" exhibition to Sikeston.

Sincerely,

M.C. Lamarre
