Your view: Many to thank

Thursday, March 22, 2007

Mike,

I wanted to send a big thank you to the Standard-Democrat, to your photo-

journalist Tim Jaynes and to Sikeston and the surrounding communities.

I recently was given the opportunity to direct my first play/musical for Sikeston Little Theatre. Our production of The Wizard of Oz was a huge success and it would not have been possible without the support of many area businesses and the media.

The photos and articles that ran in the Standard-Democrat were above and beyond any expectations, but were very instrumental in helping us "sell-out" all performances of the show. Tim Jaynes, Jill Bock and the layout department need a definitive standing ovation from myself, the cast and entire crew for a wonderful job on the photo collage in the Sunday, March 4, 2007, edition of your paper. . . we now take a bow for you and your staff!

Also, it takes a lot of "behind the scenes" work from a lot of people to make a show as big as Wizard come to fruition, from the beginning planning stages to the very last curtain call.

We were very fortunate to have a superior orchestra, led by Ed Cowan, not to mention the hours of rehearsal time that pianist Kathy Jackson graciously supplied for the cast. John and Teresa Fisk once again used their magical skills and designed sets and backdrops that seemed to appear from nowhere, and Patty Raymond was the glue that kept everyone together, acting as secretary for all of us. Munchkin "Mom and Dads" lended a hand, as did the cast members and so many others throughout the area. A special thanks goes out to Jennifer Chessor and Dale Frame for doing the jobs of assistant directors!

There are so many that did so much. . . I only hope that these people realize that their help and "additions" are not going unnoticed. . . I can't thank them enough, either!

On behalf of the entire cast and crew, we now take our last curtain call and say thanks again to everyone that helped us create a wonderful show. . . there really is no place like home!

With thanks to all,

Dennis Bohannon, Director
