SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Marcellus Struew have announced the birth of a daughter on June 25 at a Cairo hospital. The child has been named Sandra Kay.

SIKESTON - Miss Carol Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Beatty Miller, was installed Queen of Sikeston Bethel number 27 of the International Order of Job's Daughters Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.

SIKESTON - Plans and specifications for a new city fire station to be located at the junction of Illinois Avenue and Ables Road were approved by City Council members Monday Night. The move allows the city to seek bids for construction of the facility which will be leased back to the city at a future date. Public safety officials expect the 5,120 square-foot structure to be completed in January or February of 1985.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston 9-and 10-year-olds Scott Huff Little League team won first place in the league tournament held recently. The players were: P.J. Summer, Terrance Williams, Patrick Casey, Wayne Wiggins, Adam Bramlett, Adam Hahs, Scott Wamble, Stephen Pobst, Johnathan Scott, Chris Palmer and coaches Dean Palmer and Mike Pobst.


SIKESTON - Donna Burk, representing Southwestern Bill Telephone, recently presented a check for $500 to Norma Perkins Newspaper in Education coordinator for the Standard Democrat. The NIE program promotes literacy in area schools by providing newspapers.
