Minnie Smith

WILSON CITY - Minnie Pearl Burnett Davis Smith, 79, died July 5, 2004, at her home.

Born Sept. 8, 1924, in Wyatt, daughter of the late Leonard and Estella Thomas Burnett, she was a member of Ollie Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Wyatt.

In 1956, she married John Smith who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Hortense Thomas of Cleveland, Ohio, Clementine Hayward of Ullin, Ill., and Barbara Williams of Detroit; two sons, Sherman Chilsen of Cleveland and Larry B. Smith of Charleston; nieces and nephews including Dorothy Harris of Champaign, Ill., whom she raised; and 23 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ollie Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Melvin Williams, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
