Kids can create an ad for local bank

SIKESTON - First Security State Bank will join community bankers throughout the nation during April to celebrate community banking month.'

As part of this month-long celebration, First Security State Bank will host a "Create-an-ad" contest. For this contest, children can depict their ideas about community banking and submit their drawings to the bank for a chance to win a $100 savings bond. The contest is open to all school age children 5-12 and the winning design will be featured as an advertisement in the local paper.

In addition community bankers across the state will make a combined effort to discuss with the public the economic and social contribution their banks make in their hometowns.

"I'm proud to unite with other community bankers across the state and nation to display our dedication to serving our customers, our state and our country the best way we know how," said Britt McConnell, community bank president. "We are proud of our community and we are dedicated to serving our community and the citizens and businesses that reside and operate here.

First Security State Bank has had the same name for over 70 years and backed by a solid reputation, McConnell said.

Community banks are independent and locally owned and operated institutions. There are over 8,300 community banks across America.
