SIKESTON - The Sikeston City Council will host a series of public meetings on the Fiscal Year 2004 City Budget.

The first of two meetings will be held at noon Tuesday in Council Chambers at City Hall.

"Our goal is to give Sikeston's residents every opportunity to meet with Council and staff to discuss and ask questions about next year's budget," said Doug Friend, city manager. "The city is facing a revenue shortfall in the general fund. We are proposing a number of measures to address this situation in the coming year. These meetings provide our residents with the means to become better informed on the financial state of their community."

"I'm inviting the public to take their lunch and join us for Tuesday's informational meeting on the City's proposed budget," said Mayor Mike Marshall.

For those unable to attend the noon meeting, a second budget meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. May 19 at City Hall.

Previously discussions on the budget were conducted at the April 15 and April 28 City Council meetings as well at during the public hearing conducted during Monday's regular meeting.

A summary of the FY-04 budget can be found on City's website at www.sikeston.org.
