DEXTER - Fletcher A. Pounds, 86, died May 7, 2003, at Missouri Southern Healthcare.

Born June 19, 1916, in Ward, Ark., son of the late Jacob Levi and Gertrude May Anderson Pounds, he lived in Michigan and Lake Water, Fla., before moving to Dexter in 1997. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he retired as a Railway Express clerk and was a member of the First Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, Fla.

On May 20, 1938, he married Pauline Margaret Henderson who preceded him in death on June 4, 1977.

Survivors include: one son, Darell W. Pounds of New Boston, Mich.; two brothers, Leon Pounds of Bloomfield and Tom Pounds of Redford, Mich.; and one sister, Reaudeau DeMay of Ferndale, Mich.

Two brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
