BENTON - Four burglary suspects are in the Scott County Jail following an early morning chase Tuesday.

The Scott County Sheriff's Department received information of a residential burglary on Route NN early Tuesday. According to Lt. Jerry Bledsoe with the sheriff's department, a neighbor interrupted the burglary and began following the suspects.

The burglary suspects drove to Interstate 57, east of Sikeston, where they attempted to elude the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The vehicle then went north on Interstate 55 to Route HH, then west on Route HH to Highway 61 where officers with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety became involved in the chase.

Sikeston officers followed the vehicle south on Highway 61 into a neighborhood near downtown Sikeston where the vehicle was stopped at about 10 a.m. The four occupants, all residents of Louisiana, were taken into custody.

Authorities recovered from the suspects' vehicle a firearm and other articles which were taken during the burglary.

Bledsoe said two of the suspects were wanted on out-of-state warrants for escaping from custody and first degree burglary. Burglary and felony stealing charges are expected to be filed against all suspects.
