SIKESTON -- A Sikeston man is in custody after a sexual assault on an elderly Sikeston woman over the weekend.

Donald Wayne Triblett, 18, is currently being held at the Sikeston Department of Public Safety awaiting transfer to the Scott County Jail on the Class A felony warrants of forcible rape, sodomy, first degree robbery, first degree elderly abuse, first degree assault and the Class B felony of first degree burglary. Bond was set at $1,000,000 by Judge David Mann.

According to Sikeston DPS Director Drew Juden, the assault occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday after the suspect forced his way into the victim's home. Triblett was arrested around 7:45 a.m. Sunday in another incident by DPS patrol officers.

"This was a very serious crime," said DPS captain Joe Sebourn. "It took good police work and was a group effort from the uniform guys to the detectives who all worked hard to make this case."

While this was a serious crime, Sebourn said it is not something that occurs very often.

"This is the only incident we know about of this nature," Sebourn said. "Everything just fell together and we were able to get him off the street."

Additional charges are being sought in connection with other crimes that Triblett is suspected in and anyone with information in regards to any of the cases are asked to contact Sikeston DPS at 471-6200 or Crimestoppers at 471-1500.
