Ulus Carter
CHARLESTON -- Ulus Lucian Carter, 77, died at 8:40 p.m. Sept. 7, 2003, at his home.
Born March 1, 1926, in Oklahoma, son of the late Charles Leman and Lillie Belle Walker Carter, he had lived in Charleston most of his life, moving from Holland, Mich., where he was a member of the Christian Reform Church and had been employed as a fiberglass boat craftsman.
In 1951, he married Betty Jean White who preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 1996.
Survivors include: five sons, Stephen Carter of Charleston, Elmer Carter, Phil Carter, David Carter and Doug Carter of Holland; three sisters, Verla Humphrey of Charleston, Lena Provance of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mable Reynolds of Rockford, Ill.; and 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
One son, Michael Carter; seven brothers; and one sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the McMikle Funeral Home until time for service at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
