Vernett Bigam

CHARLESTON - Vernett Bigham, 72, died June 21, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Aug. 4, 1932, in Tiptonville, Tenn., daughter of the late Johnny H. and Emma Mae Henderson Johnson, she was of the Baptist belief and a member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church in Deventer where she served as a member of the Usher Board.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Faye and Henry Fennell of Charleston; one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Geraldine Bigham of Charleston; six sisters, Beulah Thedford and Alice Fay Johnson of Tiptonville, Emma Francis of Paducah, Ky., Lurline Hamilton of Carbondale, Ill., and Cora Hines and Johnnye Mae Row of Charleston; four brothers, Charles Johnson of Tiptonville, Eugene Johnson of Tigrett, Tenn., and James Johnson and Louis Johnson of Paducah; and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon Saturday until service time at 1 p.m. at the Bowden Civic Center in Charleston. The Rev. Murray Williams will officiate.

Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
