I was shopping on Sept. 13 at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Sikeston and lost my checkbook. I just want to say a big thank you to the person who found it and turned it into the service desk. It made my day and it restored my faith in people.

We walk a lot and recently have noticed that in two different neighborhoods in Sikeston, there are some people who are copying exact exterior materials from other houses in the very same neighborhood. This is very tacky. If you were building a house in another town or in another part of the city, it would be OK. But to mimic another house in your same neighborhood, how rude this is. New homes are expensive investments and homeowners do not like copying their ideas and using identical materials right next to each other. This is very low. These people need to get a life and be more creative themselves. If someone did this to me, I would sure tell them about it.

I'm calling in regard to the person who made general references to people who use Round-Up to deaden the grass in their areas close to their walks and driveways. I would like to tell them to be aware of other people's problems. My husband and I are over 75 years old. I have arthritis and live on pain medication and he has a heart problem and diabetes and he is not always able to use a trimmer. Therefore, we use Round-Up. We keep our lawn mowed better than 90 percent of our neighbors, but we are unable to do the things we did for years. You should be aware of other people's shoes because you will be walking in one of these days.

I agree with W.T. Woods. George Bush is the worst excuse for a president that this nation has ever had. He has hurt our country more than Osama bin Laden and if he gets his way, he will ruin our Social Security and Medicare.

I am a racing fan and am concerned about the Benton Race Track. I've been there three weeks in a row and there haven't been any races. Can someone tell me if they're closed for the season, if they went bankrupt or if they're out of business? When I call the phone numbers I have, a recording says it's disconnected or not working. Can someone please let me know what's going on?

The Auto Tire and Parts Racepark in Benton will host the All-Stars Outlaw Wing Sprint Series on Sept. 27. Tickets are on sale now. Call (866) 545-9905 for further information.

Once again, to the person who thinks they know all there is to know about watermelons, the reason watermelons end after rodeo is because it's time for them to end. When they quit growing in the fields, we quit picking them and we quit selling them. So we'll see you next year.

I wish someone would find out what police department is calling people saying they need help. I called DPS in Sikeston and they said it wasn't them; it was the state. I want someone to check and see if the state is calling for help.

To the Mississippi County mayor, city councilmen, chief of police, sheriff's department and prosecuting attorney. About a month ago you had two drug raids. For a minute, I thought the city was being cleaned up. How in God's name did these young men make $20,000 bonds and are back on the streets doing the same thing, selling drugs? Come on, Mississippi County. I know you can do better than this.

My daughter recently had a beautiful 6 pounds, 11 ounce boy. I don't understand why any father could deny a beautiful child as perfect as this one. I don't understand. This little child never did anything and this is troubling my heart. Why? How an a human being turn their back on an angel? That's what he is doing because this little baby is so innocent. He didn't ask to be born. It's a shame that any man could deny his own child.
