CAPE GIRARDEAU - Mildred M. Todd, 88, formerly of Morehouse, died at 12:15 p.m. Aug. 20, 2003, at Chateau Girardeau.

Born Dec. 6, 1914, in White Oak, daughter of the late Wade Winslow and Cora Bizzell Tucker, she graduated from Morehouse High School and had been a postal clerk at the U.S. Post Office. A member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, in November 1943 she was appointed clerk in charge of the Morehouse Post Office and military acting postmaster in January 1944, serving there until March 1946. In 1952 she was a regular clerk and served until retiring in June 1972, receiving a letter of commendation and certificate of achievement from the Postmaster General's office. She was a member of the Rauch-Spence Memorial United Methodist Church.

On Dec. 25, 1932, in Sikeston, she married Edgar L. Todd who preceded her in death on July 10, 1979.

Survivors include: one son, Garry L. Todd of West Lake, La.; one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and William E. Largent of San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Bonnie Tucker Story of Matthews; five grandchildren, Steve Todd of Naples, Fla., Tara Johnson of Lake Charles, La., Gina Clark of Ruston, La., and Wade Largent and Karen Morris of San Diego; and 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, JoAnn Jackson Todd; one brother, one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Marty Blakey, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Chaffee, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
