Slick Conyers

EAST PRAIRIE - Slick Conyers, 81, died at 3:05 a.m. Oct. 27, 2004, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.

Born July 15, 1923, in Sugartree, son of the late Fred and Bertha Bisher Conyers, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life and was of the Baptist belief. A U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, he retired from Noranda Aluminum, where he was a maintenance mechanic.

On Aug. 26, 1976, he married Frances Schaffer who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: six sons and five daughters-in-law, Ronnie Conyers, Gary and Myra Conyers, Bobby and Robin Conyers and Jimmy and Tammy Conyers of East Prairie, Mike and Judy Conyers of LaCenter, Ky., and Jimmy and Jackie Moore of Lees Summit; one daughter and son-in-law, Terri Ruth and Rick Dunn of Benton, Ark.; one brother, Lonnie Conyers of Wickliffe, Ky.; five sisters, Helen Jacobs, Faye Forrester and Lois Looney of East Prairie, Rovenia Phillips of Troy, Mo., and Freddy Jo Colson of Carmi, Ill.; and 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 11 am. Friday with Bill Miller, officiating.

Burial will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Ronnie Conyers, Lucas Conyers, Stephen Dunn, Jonathan Dunn, Brandon Wooden and Jeremy Hanlin.
