Who is responsible for the 300 and 400 blocks of William Street? It looks like Iraq over there. It looks like a war zone down the alley. Whole mattresses and furniture are thrown out along the alley. Is Doug Friend, our city manager, responsible to take care of that. Is it the code officer? Who is getting paid a salary to take care of that. I would like to know. I just can't imagine our town letting people throw stuff in the alley and junking up our town. It's unreal. The 300 and 400 blocks are as far as I went, and it looks like Iraq after the war.

Call City Hall at 471-2512.

I just want to let the city know the new law on dogs is not working. My husband and I walk at the Complex every evening and twice in the last week (June 28 and July 1) there have been two different people out there with huge black rottweilers with no leash. Kids were everywhere playing ball and the Complex was very crowded. We would have called the police but we didn't have our cell phone with us. Also, half the people come through there speeding. If the town needs money, all they need to do is station a cop out there with a good ballpoint pen and plenty of tickets.

Call the Sikeston Department of Public Safety at 471-4711.

Hardly a day goes by that you don't hear a radio commercial attacking Peter Myers and Lanie Black. These commercials are paid for by the teacher's union and other special interests. It's encouraging to note that a new Gallup pole came out today that 79 percent of the American people favor cutting spending, and only 13 percent of the American people want to increase taxes to deal with the state's financial problems. Thank you, Lanie Black and Peter Myers, for not listening to the special interests.

To the people who ride around town with children who are under three years old and are not in car seats, I wish the best for them, but it's not good. It's not safe. Put your kids in a car seat.
