DEXTER - Nathan Kennett, 83, formerly of Hardin, died Jan. 7, 2004, in Dexter.

Born Dec. 5, 1920, at Hornersville, son of the late W.N. and Mary Etta Foster Kennett, he was a a retired farmer and cattleman and member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter. He was assigned to the USS Charles Carroll with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a former member of the Optimist club, former member and trustee of the Methodist Church and a former Co-op board member, all in Hardin.

On Sept. 25, 1949, at Piggott, Ark., he married Lorene Phillips who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Randal Kennett of Hardin; two daughters and one son-in-law, Phyllis Mitchell and Norma and Kaz Inafukv of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Edna Ford of St. Louis, Irene Taylor of Bloomfield and Georgia Ledbetter of Glen Carbon, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Loyd Kennett and Carl Kennett; and two sisters, Mary Corbin and Alta Kennett.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. Saturday until service time at 2:30 p.m. at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. The Revs. Don Cooper and Bryan Mitchell will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
