MORLEY - Pfc. Evan G. Andrews is home on furlough visiting his wife who lives in Sikeston and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Andrews of Morley. Pfc. Andrews is now stationed at Camp McCall, N.C.

SIKESTON - G. Harry Dover, one of the few remaining charter members of the Kiwanis Club, who is leaving Dec. 20 with Mrs. Dover to live in Florida, was presented with a "going-away gift" last night by Harold Hull, president of the club.
PIEDMONT - E.G. Sweaza of Piedmont has given 40 acres of land to the Boy Scout Camp Lewallen. The acreage is adjacent to the present property.

VANDUSER - Roaster C. Townsend, who joined the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk in Sikeston in June 1978, will be sworn in as postmaster of Vanduser on Dec. 21. Ms. Townsend, who succeeds Ina Blueck, who retired July 6, has headed the office as officer-in-charge.

BENTON - The bad news is that six Scott County bridges are in need of repair; the good news is that number is down from 20 bridges cited as problems in 1992.
SIKESTON - Santa paid a visit to the Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center Tuesday to spread Christmas joy to the children, who shared their Christmas wish lists with St. Nick. They assured him they had been good last year.
MINER - The American Cancer Society's Scott Unit will host a New Year's Eve Gala at the Best Western Coach House Inn and Suites from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Dec. 31. Dinner music will be provided by Hal Mark McDonald. Featured entertainment will be Fanfare, a variety band from St. Louis.
