Edward Mullins
CHICAGO, Ill. -- Edward L. Mullins, 85, formerly of Charleston, Mo., died Oct. 3, 2005, in Chicago.
Born May 1, 1920, in Cordova, Tenn., son of the late Granville and Daisy Chambers Mullins, he was one of 12 children. A graduate of Woodstock High School in Tennessee, he received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture and education at Tennessee State University and a master's degree from Ball State University. His 39 years of teaching included positions at Marion, Indiana, Wardell, Missouri, Lincoln School, junior and senior high schools in Charleston and Cairo High School in Illinois. He was a member of Perry Chapel A.M.E. Church in Charleston where he held positions as Sunday school superintendent, teacher, choir member, trustee, steward, treasurer and class leader. He was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and was also active in many community activities.
In 1946, he married Mildred Crawford who preceded him in death.
On July 11, 1981, he married Mable Fristoe Willard who survives of the
home.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Patsy Mullins and Valerie Mullins of Chicago; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Tyrone Mullins of Hanover Park and Eric and Linda Mullins of Orlando, Fla.; two step-daughters and one step-son-in-law, Carolyn and Kim Hollowell and Nancy Dillard of Sikeston; one brother, Raymond Mullins of Memphis, Tenn.; and one grandson, five granddaughters and one step-grandchild.
Ten siblings preceded him in death.
A memorial service, with Williams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Perry Chapel A.M.E. Church in Charleston with Steve Betts and the Rev. Kevin Jacques Sr. officiating.
