Art Broadhurst
DEXTER -- Eugene Arthur "Art" Broadhurst, 93, died April 19, 2005, at Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility in Dexter.
Born Dec. 18, 1911, in Pittsburg, Kan., son of the late James Henry and Mildred F. Herron Broadhurst, he had been a resident of St. Louis for many years before moving to Dexter in 1991. He had owned and operated the Berkley Lumber Co. in Berkley before his retirement. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was affiliated with the Catholic church and was a member of the Dexter Elks Lodge, Dexter Eagles Aerie and the American Legion.
On March 23, 1943, he married Helen Marie Coosman who preceded him in death in August 1974.
One son, James Anthony Broadhurst; one sister, Gretchen Fann; one brother, Charles Broadhurst, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: four sisters, Verna Lindsey and Charlene Beamer of Sacramento, Calif., Florence McIntire of Ozark and Lucille Kennedy of St. Louis; and one brother, Jim Broadhurst of Walnut Grove, Calif.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Friends may also call from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Hutchens Mortuary in Florissant.
Burial will be at a later date in the Lake Charles Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Louis.
