BERTRAND - William Theodore "W.T./Dub" Woods Jr., 83, died April 15, 2005, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born May 12, 1921, in Essex, son of the late William Theodore and Florence Jane Pitts Woods Sr., he was a member of Bement Baptist Church, a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman in Iran and Iraq, and a self-employed farmer and cattleman for over 40 years.

After retiring, he worked for the Missouri Bureau for the Blind and the U.S. Department of Agriculture and as a committeeman on the ASCS board for Mississippi County and was a Doane Farm Panel member.

On June 26, 1976, he married Billie V. Brown Baker who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, William E. Woods of Columbia; three daughters, Jo Ann "Jody" Young of Cape Girardeau, Marilyn Doris Blanton of Sacramento, Calif., and Connie Jane Arnold of Scott City; one brother, Tommy Earl Woods of Bertrand; three sisters, Mabel Peters of Bertrand, Ruby Little of Southgate, Mich., and Norma Jean Matthews of Sullivan; and 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was dearly loved by his entire family.

Visitation is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Norman Shepard, a retired Baptist minister, officiating and the Rev. Delbert Bishop, pastor of Bement Baptist Church, assisting.

Burial will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield with full military honors.
